New Year’s Eve Party: Black and Brass

2017 is nearly here, which means I better get on it! This holiday season has been all about black and brass for me, and this palette will be extending to our New Year’s Eve party!

BRass bottle Openers

First of all, before we plan this celebration, I am on the hunt for a new bottle opener. How to choose? There are just so many handsome brass ones out there! Here are my favorites. Corkscrew style, bottle top style, geometric, and minimalist, while all beautiful uses of brass as a medium.

New Year's Eve Brass Bottle Openers and Corkscrews
1. SOLID BRASS VINTAGE CORKSCREW VIA CHAIRISH 2. EVEREST MODERN BRASS AND QUARTZ CORKSCREW BY KATHY KUO HOME 3. BLACKENED BRASS BOTTLE OPENER BY IACOLI & MCALLISTER 4. CREST CAST BRASS BOTTLE OPENER BY FORT STANDARD 5. MATTE BRASS HEXAGON BOTTLE OPENER BY FERM LIVING 6. POLISHED BRASS BOTTLE OPENER BY GENTNER DESIGN VIA KAUFMANN MERCANTILE 7. FUTAGAMI BRASS FRAME BOTTLE OPENER VIA WOONWINKEL HOME

Most noteworthy to me is the solid, polished brass bottle opener by Gentner Design. It’s simple form, heavy weight, and the fact that it is handcrafted in Chicago mean that I will never get tired of it! Now that we have made that decision, let’s get to more good stuff!

Party Party party

We need something memorable to drink, and some statement-making pieces for the table. So, here is a collection sure to make ringing in the new year extra special!

What shall we pour? One of my favorite families of vineyards is Duckhorn. This year, their Mendocino-based Goldeneye has released a delicious Anderson Valley sparkling brut rosé – perfect for toasting the new year! To ensure all my guests are sipping something they love, I am adding Reverend Nat’s single-orchard Lorries’s Gold cider, and Koval’s award-winning barreled gin to the bar.

These drinks call for vintage black and gold glasses, in beautiful shapes to enhance the sensory experience.  For the sparkling rosé, these black glass champagne coupes will work beautifully. And these mid-century Italian 24karat banded glasses and gold seal Old Fashioned glasses are ideal for making an impression.

To dress my party table, I have to have these gorgeous black Chilewich Drift placemats (the gold ones are just as pretty). The Perimeter Tray by Ladies & Gentlemen, whose designs are all exquisite, will add some edge with it’s brass handles. Finally, Ash & Anchor’s Lume napkins and Blockshop Textiles Mosaic Scarf (used as a runner) will give the table that handmade feel I treasure. Can you tell that I love entertaining?

So, which bottle opener is your favorite? What are you pouring for your New Year’s Eve celebration?

Cheers!
